Who we are

Opening Central Africa (OCA) is the Anti-Kleptocracy Coalition of Central Africa – a network of civil society organizations united to confront the common challenge of kleptocracy. We were formally launched in February 2018 in Accra by leading anti-corruption groups from the region: ADISI (Cameroon), Collectif Sassoufit (Republic of Congo), EG Justice (Equatorial Guinea), and Public Interest Law Center (PILC) of Chad. In 2020, Friends of Angola (FOA)joined the coalition. Together, we envision a Central African region governed by strong democratic institutions that ensure equal access to resources and rights for all.

Our Mission

Provide a unique platform where people can find clear, relatable stories about kleptocracy in Central Africa – stories that expose how public wealth is stolen and inspire citizens to act. By translating complex corruption cases into simple language, we empower communities with information that affects their lives. Our ultimate goal is to raise the stakes for those stealing public money, making it harder for corruption to thrive.

Our Coalition

Each OCA partner brings deep expertise in combating corruption and defending human rights. We leverage this collective strength to maximize impact. OCA also collaborates with international supporters – for example, Finance Uncovered provides investigative and publishing support, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED)funds our initiatives. By working together across borders, we amplify local voices on a global stage.
